Sedation dentistry : dentistry is a method where we give the patient the medicine. We do this to make them relax during treatment.
But, patients won't fall asleep or be unconscious. Only for some rare cases, does the doctor need to put the patient in a state of unconsciousness. We use different levels of sedation based on the patient's needs. They are minimal sedation, moderate sedation, deeper sedation, and general anesthetics.
Patients may choose sedation dentistry for several reasons: • Anxiety: The doctor gives sedation based on the amount of anxiety you have. • Pain Sensitivity: When there is dental sensitivity (sensitive teeth). • Gag Reflex: When there is a serious gag reflex that affects the efforts put forth on the teeth. • Lengthy Procedures: When the patient has to spend a long time on their dental chair. • Children: For children who get too fidgety, especially when they are receiving treatment. • Special Needs: For people with complications such as physical or mental disabilities.
Sedation dentistry offers several benefits: • Reduces anxiety and other emotions that may bring about discomfort among patients. • Reduces the level of pain that patients get during dental procedures. • Enables the dentist to do many procedures within the same appointment session. • Reduces the gag reflex so that the treatment can be comfortable. • Better patient cooperation: Especially for children and patients with special needs.
